Résumé

El trauma secundario es un riesgo ocupacional común en profesionales que brindan apoyo a sobrevivientes de trauma. Este se refiere a los síntomas que experimenta una persona luego de presenciar o escuchar el trauma o sufrimiento de otra persona. El impacto puede ser significativo, tanto a nivel físico como emocional, con posibles efectos en el desempeño personal y profesional. Es fundamental que las organizaciones evalúen sus prácticas y procedimientos para identificar cómo estas influyen en la capacidad de afrontamiento y/o recuperación ante el trauma secundario. El acercamiento informado en trauma (AIT) ofrece “lentes” para fomentar la seguridad tanto de las personas servidas, como de quienes ofrecen servicios. El AIT es sumamente relevante en ambientes laborales con alto riesgo, donde las organizaciones deben ser responsables de prevenir y atender de manera adecuada el trauma secundario. En este artículo, buscamos abordar las posibles brechas entre la literatura y las prácticas organizacionales relacionadas con el trauma secundario desde el AIT. Además, compartimos lecciones aprendidas de procesos de transformación organizacional en Puerto Rico, herramientas para organizaciones que deseen reestructurarse desde el acercamiento informado en trauma, y recomendaciones para ampliar el conocimiento sobre este tema a nivel local.
