Transformations in psychotherapy: hybridisations and heterogeneous compositions in psychological practices in Uruguay
Abstract
This article presents the results of a study aimed at analysing the current state of clinical psychology in Uruguay, based on a characterisation of psychotherapeutic practice. The training trajectories, the theoretical-conceptual repertoire and the way it is applied in practice were surveyed. We opted for an exploratory-descriptive qualitative design consisting of three stages: systematisation of web pages, in-depth interviews and virtual ethnography. The interviews were coded and categorised using MaxQda software. Results on educational trajectories, psychotherapeutic practice and psychotherapeutic settings are presented. In psychotherapeutic practice, there is evidence of the innovation of traditional spaces and modalities of care, emphasising the process of hybridisation of perspectives, technical and conceptual objects, instruments and therapeutic purposes. It is concluded that despite the pre-eminence of psychoanalytic knowledge until the mid-1990s, an expanded therapeutic environment is now beginning to take shape, shaping a practice and circulation characterised by a hybrid and experimental nature.
