Resumen

La muerte de una persona querida es uno de los eventos más difíciles de asimilar y comprender. Numerosas investigaciones sostienen que, en personas teístas, la religión y espiritualidad sirven de sostén en momentos de pérdida. Sin embargo, también sabemos que hay personas que ante estas pérdidas desarrollan luchas con lo divino y lo espiritual. Estas personas suelen desarrollar más problemas emocionales que las personas sin esas luchas. En el presente estudio se correlacionaron distintas variables con las pérdidas de personas significativas en la vida de 116 participantes teístas. Se auscultaron los afrontamientos positivos y negativos religiosos y su relación con síntomas de depresión. Observamos que los afrontamientos religiosos negativos (ARN) se correlacionaron de manera moderada con la presencia de sintomatología depresiva. Por otro lado, encontramos que los afrontamientos religiosos positivos (ARP) correlacionaron de manera baja y positiva con síntomas depresivos. Asimismo, los hombres, ante pérdidas, utilizaban más los ARN que las mujeres. Estos resultados sugieren que los ARN suelen relacionarse con sintomatología depresiva, lo que a su vez apunta a que el fenómeno de ARN y luchas religiosas y espirituales debe ser auscultado en el ámbito clínico para buscar opciones de resolver dichos conflictos.
